The Hendren Project is honored to present a video of the lecture as part of its special lecture series on Important Topics in Pediatric Surgery.


Summary

Dr. Sherif Emil presented the second annual lecture in pediatric surgery in honor of Dr. Custer and his wife, Beverly. Dr. Emil discussed the challenges encountered when educating surgeons in low- and middle-income countries and emphasized the importance of international rotations and exchange programs. He shared his personal experiences and partnerships in global education and highlighted the significant disparities in surgical resources and mortality rates between high-income countries and sub-Saharan Africa. Dr. Emil emphasized the importance of developing effective international learning communities.
