4-Year-Old Female Patient with Unusual Cloacal Anatomy (Hendren Patient Case)

Case Overview: 
  • 4-year-old female patient with very unusual cloacal anatomy was referred in 1989
  • Divided loop colostomy had been done at birth and remained
  • There was urinary incontinence as well
Follow Up: 

At age 5 years

  • 1 year after reconstructive surgery, the patient was continent of urine and stool

At age 15 years

  • I personally saw the patient to remove multiple large bladder stones by cystostomy
  • No stone recurrence since then. 

At age 28 years

  • Patient had two sons, both by cesarean section and both prematurely
  • Her general health was excellent
