Case Summary
- 3-yr-old presents for evaluation. He was born and was noted to have abdominal distention, inability to pass stool in first 48 h of life and feeding intolerance.
- On day of life 12, he underwent a transanal pull-through at an outside hospital. He had not had a rectal biopsy prior to that procedure.
- Male patient was first evaluated on day 2 of life in the NICU due to abdominal distention, mild bilious emesis, and failure to pass meconium.
- On exam, he had distended abdomen, rectal exam with explosive stools and gas.
- Abdominal radiograph showed colonic distention.
- 18-month-old female patient referred with total urinary incontinence
- Prior colostomy at birth
- Soave type rectal pullthrough at 1 year, and later colostomy closure.
- 20-year-old female totally incontinent of urine and stool when referred in 1979
- Prior operations included colostomy, colon pullthrough, right nephrectomy, and a flap to enlarge the UGS opening
- She was in diapers
